About Us
Since 1974, South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic has provided cutting-edge veterinary emergency care and medical referrals. We partner with your referring veterinarian to assist with after-hours medical care for your beloved companion. Our goal is to be your trusted advisor for your pet's care, even after he or she leaves our hospital.
The veterinarians and staff at South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic are committed to facilitating communication and understanding with everyone involved in your pet's care. We understand the special relationship you have with your pet and it is our goal to preserve and strengthen that bond through exceptional veterinary medicine.
More than 50 nearby veterinary hospitals refer patients to our hospital for emergency care and post-surgical, on-going care for patients who are not stable or comfortable enough to return home. Our facility is staffed by at least one veterinarian at all times during business hours. During holidays, we are open 24 hours and the hospital is fully staffed. Our medical team is comprised of three veterinarians, all of whom are members of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, as well as nine registered veterinary technicians and five veterinary assistants, all of whom have several years of experience providing emergency veterinary care.
South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic utilizes the latest medical technology as part of your pet's treatment plan. We make extensive use of digital radiology, ultrasound, and a state-of-the-art laboratory when diagnosing your pet. During surgical procedures, advanced anesthetic and monitoring techniques are used to keep your pet safe and comfortable. We know that medical emergencies can be a stressful time for you and your pet. We strive to make your pet's time with us as safe and stress-free as possible through the application of compassionate veterinary care and constant communication with both you and your primary veterinarian.
We are an active member of the Palo Alto community. South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic treats stray pets brought in by Palo Alto Animal Control, and we donate medical treatment to Wildlife Rescue, Inc. In addition, we provide medical care for the K9 units of the Palo Alto Police Department, the County of San Mateo Sheriff's Department and the Menlo Park Police Department.
