Emergency Visit Information
South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic provides compassionate care supported by experience and technology. We partner with your referring veterinarian to assist with medical care for your beloved companion, no matter what time it is.
Our Mission
The South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic exists to provide the finest emergency medical and surgical care possible when your regular veterinarian is unavailable to assist you. We maintain state-of-the-art equipment and diagnostic aids available for use by our highly trained veterinarians and nurses. We partner with your regular veterinary clinic and with veterinary specialists to provide comprehensive care for your special pet. We understand that each pet relationship is unique, and we strive to deliver our expert care with compassion and dignity.
Timely care is provided by a team consisting of experienced veterinarians focused on emergency pet care, licensed veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants, who are on-premises during all hours of operation. Our goal is to provide a stimulating and enjoyable environment for all employees promoting education, challenging work, and respect. Accomplishing these goals ensures our success and allow us to always be here when your pet needs us.
Emergency Care
Every patient is examined by one of our doctors as promptly as possible. Trained nurses triage each patient upon arrival at the clinic. Any condition requiring immediate treatment or involving life-threatening problems is our first priority. Every patient is important to us and we treat all pets as if they were our own.
Communication
After the initial examination by a veterinarian, a presumptive diagnosis, a prognosis, and a treatment plan is presented to you detailing necessary diagnostics and treatment for your pet. You are asked to give consent to proceed with the recommended plan. The veterinarian or a member of the nursing staff keeps you informed of the progress of your pet's diagnostic evaluation and treatment. Your telephone calls are always welcome.
Hospitalization And Care
An experienced emergency veterinarian and trained nurses are on-premises at all times during your pet's hospitalization. We have on-site laboratory equipment and radiology capability that allows us to perform immediate diagnostic evaluation. Our partnership with board-certified veterinary surgeons allows us to provide surgical care for your pet if it is needed. When the emergency clinic closes, you may need to transfer your pet to your regular veterinarian for continued care. We provide you with copies of all diagnostic evaluations, description of medical care, and nursing care notes of your hospitalized pet to give to your regular veterinarian. In addition, we call your veterinarian to insure that all important details of your pet's care are discussed. If you are taking your pet home, we provide written discharge instructions as well as any prescriptions that might be recommended.
Payment
Full payment is due at the time of service, before your pet is discharged. Upon admission for a hospitalized stay, you are asked to leave a deposit for approximately one-half of the estimated charges. We accept checks (upon approval for guarantee through United Bankcard Services), debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, and cash.
We understand that pet emergencies are unexpected. For that reason, we also accept patient care payment plans arranged through CareCredit. If you already have a CareCredit account, please bring your CareCredit card with you. Or, you may apply for a new account at www.carecredit.com, or on the telephone at (800) 677-0718.
