Diagnostic Care
Digital Radiology
South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic uses state-of-the-art digital x-ray technology when diagnosing your pet. Our facility is equipped with advanced digital radiology equipment developed by Eklin Medical Systems. Images are stored in each patient's computerized medical record as well as archived off-site for permanent retrieval. CD copies are made for your records and for your referring hospital, if desired.
Digital images are reviewed by board-certified radiologists through a teleradiology service available 24-hours a day. Reports are returned within 1 hour and duplicates are faxed to referring general practice. Written interpretations are included in your pet's medical record, which is sent back to your primary veterinarian.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an advanced diagnostic modality that uses high-frequency soundwaves to create a real-time moving image of your pet's internal organs. Ultrasound is useful for diagnosis of thoracic and abdominal conditions and is also used to guide biopsy sampling and catheter placement.
Laboratory Services
Our in-hospital lab suite offers a comprehensive array of testing for emergency and critical care cases, including hematology, serum chemistries, electrolyte analysis, blood gases, and clotting diagnostic testing. Urinalysis, fecal analysis, as well as tests for parvovirus, pancreatitis, heartworm antigen, giardia, and FeLV/FIV are performed on-site. Blood glucose monitoring is available for diabetic patients. Testing is available for anti-freeze toxicity and marijuana/cocaine toxicity for pets.
