John Thelen, DVM
Dr. John Thelen was born in Perth, Western Australia, and moved to Kenosha, WI, when he was 3 years old. As a young child, John grew up in Kenosha and then moved to Van Nuys, CA, where he was a member of his high school track team. As an undergraduate, he attended University of California at Berkeley and majored in Zoology. John served in the US Army and was stationed in Viet Nam. Upon returning, he attended veterinary school at the University of California at Davis and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. He has worked exclusively in emergency medicine for the past 30 years.
Dr. Thelen lives with his wife, two cats, and two desert tortoises. His hobbies include skiing, hiking, and scuba diving. He maintains membership in several veterinary organizations including the International Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society, American Animal Hospital Association, and the California Veterinary Medical Association.
